Short visits

Most on-street parking in the inner Picton town centre is P60: one hour, free, intended for short visits to shops and services. The Picton Foreshore Reserve car park is P240 (four hours), free.

Marlborough District Council’s metered car parks also give the first hour free if you activate it (PayMyPark app or a Pay by Plate meter). That does not apply in Port Marlborough’s own car parks.

All day

The Coathanger, High Street and Dublin Street car parks are all-day parking at $1.20 an hour or $6 a day, charged 9am–5pm, Monday to Sunday. Pay with the PayMyPark app or at a Pay by Plate meter (coins or card); both use your number plate.

Long term (leaving the car while you cross on foot)

Long-term coupons are sold for the Dublin Street and Coathanger car parks, through PayMyPark (“Long Term” tab) or at a Pay by Plate meter. Interislander points foot passengers to these same two car parks.

Bluebridge has its own pay-and-display car park opposite its terminal on Lagoon Road (Bluebridge).

Campervans and overnight

Signposted spaces for campervans and oversized vehicles are in some car parks, for day parking. Freedom camping and overnight stays are prohibited in all public car parks in Picton. The council publishes a map of permitted freedom camping sites; holiday parks and DOC campsites are the other options.

Near the terminals

While the Waitohi ferry redevelopment is under way, access to some car parks near the terminals may change temporarily. Follow the signs on the day.
